Supplementary images

"Seamlessly blend the path, the rooms with the full vigour of an academic institute"

Watch how the forms rotate from the top to bottom and then hangs above the Squarehouse. This is the beginning of motion, the centre of academic institution.

Bridge to room then to bridge then to rooms. A vicious cycle of motion.

Power

Scale. Layers. Levels. Epic

Open air computer space and library, claiming parts of the bridge. Transition of function.

Workspace with views above and below.

Hidden studios in impossible parts of the building.

Dean's Office. The power of the geometry.

Complexity is overwhelming simplicity. Impossibility is simple arrangements of complexity.

Many paths, one destination.

Open air gallery for sculptural items.

Interior of gallery.

View of vehicles underneath. A fearful scenery.

Forced perspective. Impossible structure.

Invisibility through light and darkness.

Meeting room for the academics, overlooking the whole school.

The Essence.

The Architecture

"Architecture should be epic. It should have layers, it should have scale, it should be impossible to look at."-Steve Lu
Multiple layers stacked upon one and another in an impossible fashion. An internal reveal of studios, workshops etc.

A view of the under. A reminder of it's scale and it's structure less nature.

Watch from below as the gallery clings onto the bridge.

What are the possibilities...

...for an impossible building?

Moving Element 2-Rotating rooms

Moving Element 2-Rotating Rooms

"Optical Illusion." "Impossible Engineering." "Invisible."

Top: Public meeting rooms that can be manually rotated from the inside.
Middle: As night beckons, the structures gets hidden and an illusion is generated.
Bottom: A gallery of rooms, floating in the air as lanterns.

The ever changing view from the interior as the room pans across the scenery.
Top: View of the main building
Middle: View of neighbouring rooms.
Bottom: View of the bridge.

Moving Element 1-Closing Bridge

Moving Element 1-The Closing Bridge

"Transition between Functions." "Memory Matrix" "Fear to Overcome"

Top: Open area for public gathering, connecting the bridge to the main lecture theatre.
Middle: When a lecture is in progress the bridge will then fold inwards.
Bottom: When closed the bridge becomes a visual obstacle.

Top: View towards Main Lecture Theatre.
Middle: Bridge in action. Is it too late to make for it?
Bottom: The bridge is still there but would the fear of heights and tight spaces overwhelm you? Or would the fear of missing a lecture motivate you to cross?

2 draft model

"Fear must be forced from the correct perspective from the correct path"-Steve Lu

Draft model 1

Impossibility is enforced through mass and the possible resistance.

Draft model
Difficulty in navigation adds onto the impossibility in motion

Sketchup Model-Final

"Invisible isn't being unable to see the matter but rather the inability to perceive it's possibility"-Steve Lu
