Mashup (revised)

Would you walk across this scary looking bridge now that you know that it is safe, or is your fear of heights and maybe even bridges going to stop you from making the trip? “Invisible” may not mean what you think it means. It’s a little bit more optical illusion than it is impossible engineering. A forced perspective. Memory matrix. Transition between functions. Seamlessly blend the machinery into the countryside atmosphere, creating a sense of irony and beauty all at the same time.

light rail stop

The Stop

Located at the end of University mall, the stop would replace all the bus stops in favour of the light rail and would span across Anzac parade, easing traffic and bridging the two sides.

The rigid pattern on the columns enforce the idea of the stop being arranged in simple units but extended to create it's seemingly complex design.
The bridging of cultures; the perfect view.
The warping of light and dark; the struggle in cultural assimilation.
Light amongst dark; the past as our mother, the future as our child. The hope of crossing the distance between cultural barriers.

Light to Dark to Light

Begin by simplicity, of lines and units, and repeat this pattern.
Extend the pattern until darkness overwhelms.

Remove all forms and begin work on it's shadows; simplifying its change and its form.

Continue the waxing and waning as light struggles to prevail.

Simplicity grows to complexity, complexity fades back into simplicity.
Light to dark, dark to light.
The cycle repeats amongst all of us.

Chosen textures

Light- Reconfiguration of forms to its simplest.

Medium- the growing repetition, the generation of the complex through simple units.

Dark- complexity overwhelms itself, fading to simple shadows and the cycle repeats.
